Medication shortages

Several drug shortages are affecting pharmacies and patients across the country. You can check whether a medication you take is experiencing a current shortage in the U.S. by clicking here.

Click the "Current/Resolved Shortages" tab and enter your medication name in the search box. If your medication is not found in the list, it is not in shortage. If it displays as "Resolved," the shortage is resolved but the supply is still being monitored. If it displays, "Currently in shortage," there is an active shortage.

Some tips for managing your prescription:

  • Be sure to follow your provider's guidelines for how many days in advance to request refills. Keep an eye on the number of refills you have left; if a visit with your provider is required for additional refills, schedule the visit in advance.

  • Sign up for text, phone, or email alerts when a prescription is ready for pick-up, if your pharmacy offers this service.

  • Ask your provider or pharmacist about your medication if you have questions or concerns about shortages.
