Breast Health Event to be Held at Open Door

April 3, 2017 – “Reaching Out” is partnering with Open Door Health Services to offer free breast exams 5:30-7:30 p.m. April 17 at Open Door Health Services, 333 S. Madison St.

Early detection is the key to effective treatment of breast cancer, the most common form of cancer in women in the U.S., according to a release. Clinical breast exams performed by a doctor are recommended every one to three years for women ages 20-39 and every 1-2 years for those 40 years and older.

Free clinical breast exams will be provided by Open Door Health Services nurse practitioners. Mammograms if recommended will be scheduled for a later date. Mammograms will be offered at no charge for women who qualify.

All women are welcome. Appointments are required. For more information or appointments, call 765-284-9063.Transportation to and from the event is being provided by Muncie Indiana Transit System. When boarding a MITS bus that evening, attendees just need to let the driver know that they are attending the Reaching Out event at Open Door Health Services for a complimentary ride to ODHS.

“Reaching Out” is a cooperative effort of: Cancer Services of ECI – Little Red Door, Indiana Breast and Cervical Cancer Program, Health Coalition of Delaware County, IU Health Ball Memorial Breast Center at the Imaging Center, IU Health Ball Memorial Family Medicine Residency Center, IU Health Ball Memorial Cancer Center, Open Door Health Services, and Meridian Health Services.
