Cris Vieira, MD
ADULT & FAMILY CARE
Dr. Cristovao Vieira, known as Dr. Cris to his patients, has over 30 years of experience in clinical practice and medical research. He earned his medical degree in 1994 from the renowned Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After moving to the United States, he completed his internship, residency, and fellowship at the University of Miami, where he became an Assistant Professor of Medicine and later served as Chief of Nephrology at the Cleveland Clinic of Florida.
In 2010, after two decades in South Florida, Dr. Vieira moved to Indiana. He worked as an attending physician at Major Health Partners in Shelbyville and later ran his own wellness center in Indianapolis.
Dr. Vieira specializes in nephrology and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, following the path of his father, a well-known nephrologist in Brazil. His commitment to medicine is shared by his family, with his daughter Laura currently in medical school in New York.
He joined Open Door because of its focus on improving community health, aligning with his passion for providing compassionate, hands-on care. “I really like being involved in direct patient care,” he said. Dr. Vieira is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, allowing him to connect with a diverse range of patients.
Dr. Vieira lives with his wife, Lourdes. He enjoys spending time with his family and their dog Kobi, a Husky-Pomeranian mix. In his free time, he likes to watch thriller movies—his favorite is “Lucy”—and relax with a good Netflix series.
