Mobile Unit events offer affordable school physicals and immunizations

Open Door is partnering with local agencies and non-profits this summer to ensure children have access to school physicals and immunizations.

The Open Door Mobile Unit team will offer these services at a series of events throughout June and July.

June 20           9 a.m.-1 p.m.     Westvale Manor (2215 Fulton St., Anderson)

June 26           9 a.m.-3 p.m.     Southern Pines (4110 S. Pinewood Dr., Muncie)

July 2              9 a.m.-3 p.m.     Earthstone Terrace (3500 Juniper Ln., Muncie)

July 12            9 a.m.-3 p.m.     Millennium Place (451 E. 2nd St., Muncie)

July 17            9 a.m.-3 p.m.     Ross Community Center (1110 W. 10th St., Muncie)

July 31            2-6 p.m.              Future Choices Health Fair (Horizon Convention Center - 401 S. High St., Muncie)

Services are walk-in, with no appointment necessary. All events are open to the public.

Kids will receive a free backpack of school supplies and t-shirt while supplies last.

Area organizations will be on hand with additional resources and activities for children.

Cost:

  • Immunizations are no-cost for those covered by Medicaid/HIP/Hoosier Healthwise, as well as those without insurance. Insurance will be billed if applicable.

  • For children not in need of their yearly check-up, a basic school physical is a flat fee of $20 due at time of service. For children in need of their yearly check-up—which includes a more in-depth review of health, any necessary referrals, updating of any prescriptions, as well as all requirements of a school physical—insurance will be billed if applicable.

Services are provided regardless of health insurance status. For those without insurance, Open Door’s Indiana Navigators will be available to assist with questions about affordable coverage and enrollment.
