Two Open Door staff members are V!VA Award winners! The Very Important Volunteer Awards (V!VA) are given by the Rotary Club of Muncie each year to recognize the exemplary volunteer efforts of up to four individuals and one organization in our community.

Making sure resident voices play a lead role in neighborhood revitalization, the 8twelve Coalition is bringing residents, businesses, and other stakeholders together to improve quality of life in Muncie’s south side. With an interest in improving health alongside residents, Open Door Health Services became an 8twelve Coalition partner in 2017, and the Coalition came under Open Door’s umbrella in 2022.

The saying “A Smile is Contagious” sits on top of Nancy Small’s computer monitor. It’s a motto that Nancy has lived by for more than 16 years of working at Open Door Health Services. The funny thing is most patients have never seen Nancy’s smile. They’ve heard it.
